Are you taking the necessary steps to invite God’s protection into your home on a spiritual level? Anointing oil is a potent instrument for spiritual purification and fortification when approaching God with the prayer of faith. In this blog, we will explore how to use anointing oil to anoint your home and take back authority by the spirit.
Step 1: Select the Right Fragrance
Really you can choose any fragrance because it is not the specific scent that does the work, but the Spirit of God through your faith and agreement. However, in the bible, there are diverse uses for anointing oil fragrances such as Frankincense & Myrrh for healing and intercession or Cassia for dedication and devotion. Varieties such as frankincense, myrrh, cassia, and spikenard are commonly employed for home anointing. Upon your choice, and following a heartfelt prayer over the oil, it becomes sanctified, and by exercising faith, it serves your purpose.
Step 2: Prepare Yourself and Your Home
Before anointing your home, it is important to prepare yourself. The oil represents Holy Spirit’s power and is used with your faith in God to cleanse and protect. That is why it is important to pray over the oil with full expectation that God will hear and answer your prayer. You can pray over the oil by speaking the word of God and praying as the Holy Spirit leads or in the spirit.
“It shall come to pass in that day That his burden will be taken away from your shoulder, And his yoke from your neck, And the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil.” – Isaiah 10:27
You can pause and listen for Holy Spirit to reveal anything evil that has entered your home or if there are any specific areas of prayer for your home and family. Take note of how the Spirit leads and follow the direction you are given as God reveals your heart and the spiritual battle going on in your home.
Step 3: Anoint the Entryways
Moving forward, focus on anointing the entry points of your home, including the front and back doors along with any additional entrances. Applying a small amount of oil on your finger, you can form the sign of the cross or simply trace the door frame. While anointing each entryway, offer a prayer to God for protection, favor, and blessing. Be courageous! Your prayers are heard.
Be specific as the Spirit leads you in prayer. Pray out loud. Ask God to remove anything evil that has entered your home by way of books, movies, music, jewelry, artwork, cell phones, and any other door to the occult and demonic spirits that have been opened. Ask God to replace all evil with His wonderful blessings and love!
Step 4: Anoint Key Areas
After anointing the entryways, you can move on to anointing key areas of your home. Invite Holy Spirit into the areas of your home where the family gathers and bedrooms where you and your children sleep. Continue to plead the powerful blood of Jesus by faith over every room and family member in the house. Rebuke any schemes of the enemy and replace what the enemy meant for evil with God’s goodness.

Step 6: Close with Gratitude
Once you have anointed your home, thank God for his power and love. Give thanks for the blessings and protection you have received and visualize a home and your family filled with the Shalom peace of God.
